DANCE FOR YOUR WORLD
PERFORMANCE INFORMATION FOR DALLAS LINE DANCERS
Thank you for agreeing to be part of the performance program. Please read the
following information carefully:
Date: Saturday 11th September
Venue: Queen St Mall Main stage
Time: The event will run from 12pm – 4pm. Your performance time is as follows
1pm Start
Please have all of your dancers arrive 30mins in advance and report to the rear of the
main stage. Look for Oxfam volunteers who will direct you to ‘Mary’ who will sign you
in. Mary will give you directions from that time.
Change room: There is a VERY small change room on the main stage. However, it can
only accommodate a small number of people and cannot be accessed during the show.
We’d appreciate if all dancers could arrive costumed and ready to dance.
Your act: The Queen St Mall administrators set strict guidelines on the length of
performances. As a result, we have had to limit all performances to 5 mins each.
Music: Please bring you (pre‐edited) music on a clearly labelled CD. If you require
multiple tracks, please write the track order on an accompanying piece of paper. Track
1 should be your first dance.
Announcing your act: The compare would like to introduce your act and company in the
best light possible. Please write a 3 sentence introduction and send it to to Rachael
Jacobs at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it by September 6th 2010.
At the conclusion of your act: To further promote your activities, the compare will
conduct a 1 min interview at the conclusion of your dance. Please nominate someone to
do this interview. The compare will ask:
1) A question about the dance style (e.g. why do you love swing dancing?)
2) A promotional question about your business (e.g. so, where can we learn this
style)
3) A question related to charity work (e.g. why have you chosen to ‘Dance for Your
World’). For this question, you might like to keep in mind our fundraising aim
(money goes towards projects in mining communities in India).
